About Us
We Built VitalStand Because the Perfect Workspace Shouldn't Be a Luxury.
We are a team of designers, engineers, and obsessive desk nerds based in Las Vegas, Nevada. We started VitalStand with one belief: the place where you do your best work deserves to be built with the same intention and quality as the work itself.
It Started With a Bad Back and a Broken Stand.
In 2019, our founder Marcus was putting in 60-hour weeks as a product consultant, bouncing between client offices and a home setup that had quietly become a disaster zone. Three monitors, two laptops, a tangle of cables that would make an IT professional weep, and a monitor stand he'd ordered online for $18 that wobbled every time he typed.
By Thursday afternoons, his neck hurt. By Friday evenings, his shoulders were locked. His chiropractor told him the same thing every month: "Your screen is too low. You have to fix your setup."
So Marcus went looking for a better stand. Not the cheapest option on a marketplace, and not a $400 piece of minimalist furniture that looked like it belonged in an architectural firm and not a home office. Something in between — something with real materials, real craftsmanship, and a price that didn't require a budget meeting.
He couldn't find it.
What he found instead was a market split in two: mass-produced plastic risers that lasted six months before the clips broke, and high-end boutique pieces that cost more than his standing desk. Nothing in the middle was designed with both intention and accessibility in mind.
So he built it himself. He sourced bamboo from sustainable suppliers in the Pacific Northwest. He worked with a woodworking shop in Nevada to prototype the first solid walnut riser. He tested tempered glass, powder-coated steel, solid pine, and quarter-sawn oak. He broke a lot of prototypes. He went back to the drawing board more times than he can count.
In early 2021, VitalStand shipped its first order — twelve units to friends, colleagues, and a handful of design professionals who'd heard about what he was building through word of mouth. Every single one came back with the same reaction:
"This is the one I've been looking for."
The Workspace Problem Nobody Talks About
Most professionals spend more time at their desk than they spend doing almost anything else in their waking life. Eight hours a day, five days a week, fifty weeks a year — that is 2,000 hours annually sitting in front of a screen.
And yet, for the majority of those professionals, their workspace is an afterthought. A desk from a flat-pack furniture store. A chair they've been meaning to replace for two years. A monitor propped up on a stack of textbooks because a proper stand seemed like an unnecessary expense.
The consequences are not subtle. The American Chiropractic Association estimates that back and neck pain from poor workstation ergonomics affects more than 80% of office workers at some point in their careers. Productivity studies consistently show that environmental discomfort — a monitor at the wrong height, a cluttered surface, visual noise — directly degrades focus and output quality.
The workspace is not just furniture. It is an environment that shapes the quality of everything produced inside it. VitalStand exists to close the gap between the workspace professionals have and the one they deserve.
What We Stand For
Materials Matter More Than Marketing
We work with solid bamboo, black walnut, quarter-sawn oak, Douglas pine, tempered glass, and aircraft-grade steel. Not because they make for beautiful product photography — although they do — but because they are the materials that hold up over years of daily use. We do not use composite wood, hollow frames, or materials chosen primarily because they are cheap to source. Every material in our catalog was selected because it earns its place.
Ergonomics Is Not Optional
Every dimension in every VitalStand product is derived from established ergonomic research. Monitor height, viewing angle, keyboard clearance, surface organization — we design around the human body, not around manufacturing convenience. When your screen is at the right height, your neck is neutral, your shoulders drop, and your focus sharpens. That is not a marketing claim. It is physiology.
A Clean Desk Is a Clear Mind
We believe in the psychology of the workspace as strongly as the physics of it. Visual clutter is cognitive noise. A surface with intentional organization — where your tools have a place and stay in it — reduces the background stress load your brain carries through a workday. Our products are designed with this in mind. The shelf beneath a monitor riser is not just storage. It is a system for keeping the things that matter front and center, and everything else out of view.
Premium Should Not Mean Inaccessible
We are not interested in building products that require a finance application to purchase. We believe that a well-designed, well-made workspace product should be accessible to any professional who values their work environment — whether they are a freelance designer in a studio apartment or a department head furnishing a corner office. Our price range is deliberate. Premium materials, fair prices, no compromise.
How We Build
Every VitalStand product goes through a development process that would frustrate any investor trying to get us to move faster. We are not apologetic about that.
New products begin with a problem statement, not a product brief. We ask: what specific failure does this solve? What does a user feel when they use this at hour eight of a workday? What happens to this piece after three years of daily use?
From there, our design team produces multiple prototypes — sometimes eight, sometimes twenty. We test them in real working environments with real professionals. Developers who run multiple monitors. Designers who have three devices on one desk. Writers who need clear surface space and nothing else. The prototypes that make it to market are the ones that pass every test, not just most of them.
Our bamboo is FSC-certified and sourced from suppliers who meet our sustainability standards. Our hardwoods — walnut, oak, pine — are kiln-dried and finished with non-toxic oil treatments that enhance the grain without hiding it. Our tempered glass meets ANSI Z97.1 standards for safety and strength. Our steel components are powder-coated in multiple stages for corrosion resistance and a finish that does not chip or fade.
We do not cut corners on joinery, fasteners, or surface treatment. Because the stand you buy from us should still be on your desk in ten years — looking better, not worse, for the time it has spent there.
VitalStand by the Numbers
Our Commitment to Responsible Sourcing
We did not set out to build a sustainability brand. We set out to build the best possible workspace products. But when you care about materials — truly care about them — responsible sourcing follows naturally.
Bamboo, our most-used natural material, is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth. It regenerates in three to five years, compared to the decades required by hardwood forests. Our bamboo is sourced exclusively from FSC-certified suppliers who practice managed harvesting without deforestation.
Our hardwood suppliers — walnut, oak, pine — operate under strict sustainable forestry practices. Every board we use is traceable to its source. We do not work with suppliers who cannot provide that documentation.
Our packaging is 100% recyclable. We eliminated single-use plastics from our shipping materials in 2022 and use recycled cardboard with soy-based inks throughout. The inserts that protect your product during shipping are made from recycled pulp, not styrofoam.
We are a small company. We do not have the resources of a global manufacturer, and we will not pretend otherwise. But we make decisions every day that reflect the belief that a well-built product — one that lasts for years instead of months — is itself an act of sustainability.
What Our Customers Tell Us
We do not measure success in units shipped. We measure it in workdays that end without neck pain, in desks that look the way professionals always imagined they would, and in customers who come back when they upgrade their setup — because they trust us to get it right again.
"I've spent more money on bad monitor stands over the years than I spent on the VitalStand WalnutRise. I wish I'd found this first. The build quality is in a completely different category — it feels like furniture, not office equipment."
— Jordan K., Creative Director, New York
"The BambuRise changed my whole relationship with my desk. I raise the monitor, my keyboard sits underneath, and suddenly I have real surface space. My neck stopped hurting within a week. I recommended it to everyone on my team and three of them ordered one."
— Maya R., Senior Software Engineer, Austin
"I work from home full-time and my desk is in my living room. I needed something that looked like it belonged there, not something that screamed 'office furniture'. The WoodPro Oak stand is genuinely beautiful. My partner asked where I bought it thinking it was a designer piece."
— Sam T., VP of Product, Seattle
The People Behind the Product
VitalStand is a small, focused team. We like it that way. Small teams move faster, care more, and stay closer to the people they build for.
Our designers come from backgrounds in industrial design and furniture-making. Our operations team has deep roots in premium goods sourcing and quality control. Our customer support team — real people, not bots — is based in the United States and responds to every inquiry personally, usually within a few hours.
We are based in Las Vegas, Nevada, which puts us at one of the most efficient shipping hubs in the western United States. It also means that when you order from us, your package typically moves fast — because geography, in this case, works in your favor.
We are not a faceless corporation. We are people who care deeply about the thing we are building, who use our own products on our own desks every day, and who take it personally when something is not right. That is not a brand voice. That is just who we are.
Our Promise to You
When you buy from VitalStand, you are not buying a product. You are buying a standard.
The standard that your workspace deserves the same quality of thought and material that you bring to your work. The standard that a product sold to you should be exactly what it claims to be — not a photograph with a gap between expectation and reality. The standard that if something goes wrong, we fix it, no bureaucracy, no fine print.
Every VitalStand product ships with our 12-month manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Every order comes with free standard shipping anywhere in the United States. And every purchase is backed by our 30-day return policy — if it is not right for your space, we take it back, no questions asked.
We built VitalStand for people who take their work seriously enough to take their workspace seriously. If that is you, we are glad you are here.
Welcome to the workspace you have been building toward.
